With lightning warnings for Seattle proper. It was just wet over here. Needless to say I was stuck inside most of the day. So I won’t say it.

Did make a run to the drive-thru pharmacy at the Naval Hospital for my meds. Good for another 3 months now. Stopped by the Chevy Dealer to see if they have any ideas how to get rid of that old-gym-sock smell that comes from the air conditioner whenever I turn it on; they didn’t really. Spray an anti-mold into the air intake and hope. Otherwise just get used to it.

Not much else going on. Started a Doctor Who marathon but will probably quit it after this episode. Netflix came in today so I got movies to watch!

Oh, did stop and get my usual at the new Taco Bell on the way back from the Naval Hospital. Good stuff! Nice to have one in town. Finally. Now we just need a Burger King for those occasions (annually usually) that I get a craving for a Whopper.

I guess the MCARC 10-meter Tuesday Evening Chat Net went well. I could only hear 2 of the guys nice and clear and 1 kinda sorta. No idea who else was out there. Ah well. 10-meters has never been my strong suit locally anyway.

Not much else happening. It’s almost bedtime so I think I’ll take this old guy to bed and read for awhile. Although I could always watch another episode of the Doctor.

Woke last Monday with a Sinus Headache. After awhile the whole left side of my head hurt. Slowly it spread, until, WEDNESDAY afternoon if finally went away. Holy Shit! Haven’t had a headache last that long in a long time. I’d have posted, but I couldn’t force a coherent thought if my life had depended on it. Monday was a really nice, get naked and stay outside, day and I couldn’t even enjoy it. Even the sunshine was too heavy on my head.

Wednesday it was somewhat better and I needed to get out of the house for awhile; so I went bowling. Finally. Bowled 3 games in just over half an hour (and broke 120 in each!). Even threw 2 strikes in a row; then almost guttered the ball. It was fun! Only cost $11 counting the shoe rental. Lady said if I joined the Friday League I could have 3 free games a day practice. Hmmm… Still, not bad for my first time bowling in 15 years or so. (Maybe longer than that. I just can’t remember.)

Finally stopped and had a Whopper on the way back from bowling. I’d  been  “jonesing”  for one for a couple of weeks. Sure was good! I don’t really get “cravings” often, but I did for a Whopper and could not tell you why. Maybe I was just wanting that taste of “sacrificial” beef smothered in lettuce, tomato, and onions.

Woke up today feeling really “normal;” no headache but my leg muscles are letting me know that I did something unusual yesterday. Tough! Get used to it on Monday’s, Wednesday’s, and Friday’s.

So I got all my usual chores done and even burned the trash (just doing my bit for global warming). Listening to the Noon-Time Net on 7.268.5 in the background. Watching it rain outside.

Still playing with Linux Mint and am unable to get to a session without x-server running so I can install the NVidia video driver. So, I’m still learning and that’s good. Bad though cause I want to start using Linux but don’t want to be stuck to one monitor. I’ll get it though, and it’ll be one of those “Doh” moments.

WA DOT has an opening for a Technician Trainer (and IT) that, if I thought I stood a chance in Hell of getting, I’d apply for. I really enjoy teaching and have a butt-ton of experience what with 20 years of giving First Aid/Health talks in the Navy. I do not mind getting up in front of a group of people to give a talk if I know what I’m talking about. Largest group I ever had numbered about 400 (in a base theater) and lots of one-on-one. Ah well. Sucks getting old.

Not much else going on around here and it’s almost bedtime for this old dude. SWMBO is home safe and sound and off in her room.

Yesterday was pretty much the usual. I did get to spend part of the day setting up SWMBO’s old laptop with Linux; that was fun. Everything works just great, except: The networking. It will either connect to our network and let her watch stuff from the Movie & TV Drives, OR, connect to the internet to let her do her genealogy thing. Won’t do both simultaneously and you have to switch between connections. Haven’t figure that one out YET.

Got my programming cable for the Baofeng radio’s I have so I spent a bit of time cloning one to the other. Got my three cable coax antenna switch so I spent some time hooking it through the automatic tuner and the radio. Seems to work just fine. Have a bit more room on my desk not having to have that manual tuner on it. Of course, I won’t be able to use that new 6-160m antenna until I buy (and receive) that 4:1 ladder line to coax balun I need. But I need to get that antenna higher anyway.

But, both my multi-band fan dipole (I built) and the 6btv antenna’s seem to be working pretty good. The 6btv lets more of the voices I hear come through but the multi-band fan dipole seems to bring in more signals. It’s a lot noisier too. I’m still so new at this that I can’t tell if that’s db gain or just plain background static.

Found the fan for SWMBO’s new laptop online. Only $60 plus shipping! That really seems like $50 too much for a damned fan; but what are you gonna do? Without? I don’t think that’s happening. Then they want $44 + shipping for the dvd drive my laptop needs. (The dvd drive that’s been TU for the past 3 years so I’m probably lucky to even find one.)

SWMBO got home and took me to dinner at FPH in Port Orchard. Then I went through the Dollar Store while she bought herself some new shoes at Big 5. Then we went to Wal-Mart and got her a new 28” tv/monitor and I bought a portable 1 TB drive to replace the drive in her friends laptop. Doesn’t fit though. Wrong kind of connector. Plain USB 3.0 instead of the SATA connectors. Looks like I got that portable drive I’ve been meaning to get a bit earlier than I planned.

And that’s pretty much it. We’re home and doing whatever we usually do in the evenings.
