I Have Mixed Feelings About APRS

(A)utomatic (P)osition (R)eporting (S)ystem. I mean, I have concerns with the Government/Civil Agencies being able to follow me every place I go through my Cell Phone; and my friend wants me to voluntarily broadcast my position all the time? Something just feels wrong with that. No, I’m not doing anything that TPTB would particularly want to keep track of (except exercising my personal Freedom’s), but still. We don’t have many things that we can do without someone keeping an eye on us. I just don’t know.

Even this new truck I got, which I really like, wouldn’t allow me to get “lost” if I wanted to what with GPS telling me where I am and it sensing, and reporting, status of various things that are going on with it. Would it be hard for some government agency to tap into that and find me? I don’t think so. Even turning OnStar off wouldn’t keep “someone” from finding me via the truck if they really wanted to. Hell, even that SiriusXM radio has to be able to “ping” your radio to tell if you’re authorized to listen; so they could always ask where the last answer originated.

So nice outside today that I got to sit out in jeans and t-shirt. Shadows were still a bit cool though so I constantly turned (like a pig on a spit). Still, Dog and I enjoyed our walk around the back of the property. Then I took the Netflix back to the Post Office. Decided I didn’t really feel like cooking for myself tonight so I stopped at Safeway and got a fried chicken dinner thingie. (Wasn’t very good though. Too overcooked and greasy.)

SWMBO got home from showing another friend around Bremerton around 1700. She’s off looking at our finances because we’re heading out tomorrow to spend the day looking at RV trailers. Not heading out to actually buy one; but you never know. I didn’t actually head out to buy my truck when I bought it. (Same with the last truck!) Have trouble passing up a great deal. (Which is also probably why she married me. She was such a great deal!) (Still is. In case you were wondering.)

MCARC 2-meter Sunday Evening Chat Net: Went well. Had 9 check-ins. My reception sucked though. Lots of static for some reason. Wonder if having no rain today was part of the “problem?” Ah well.

Almost A Shut In Tuesday. Almost.

Cause it’s Wet out there! And it’s supposed to get wetter. But we did have a small break so me and the Dog went for a quick walk around the back of the property. Did Not manage to walk between most of the drops though. I’m fat.

But I had to make a run to the bank anyway to deposit the Renter’s rent. Made a donut stop by Safeway on the way back. Picked mail up on the way in. Netflix Day! Yay! Got, and watched, the Jesus Christ-Superstar Live Tour and it was pretty good. Surprised myself by remembering most of the words.

The BEST Cloning Program Ever!

Just ordered a mag-mount for my 2m/70cm antenna so I can start getting my radio mounted in my truck. Then I ordered a 3 COAX cable switch so I can run all my HF antenna’s through the automatic tuner I have. I could probably sell this AT-300 tuner I have, but would save it to take with me on trips. It only weighs a couple of pounds so I’ll probably leave it in whatever RV trailer we get. Gotta buy 2 mounting kits for my yaesu 857d, one for the truck and one for the new RV trailer, so it would be fairly easy to mount the radio wherever I’m going to use it. Next month I’ll start checking out ham sticks.

Started saving up for another 857d that I can just mount in the truck and leave there. Or move to the RV trailer. May take me awhile but I will eventually save enough. Or I may buy a different desktop model and mount the one I have. Long as I can find an affordable radio that also does all the “digital” stuff I like doing. And will run on batteries. But if I get another 857d I can clone them if I want to; or when I need to.

And that’s it really. MCARC 10-meter chat net was pretty short cause there was only 3 of us on air. Not much else going on and it’s about bedtime.

Why Anyone Would Want To Hack My Site Is Beyond Me. Asswipes.

I get this report daily. So far this is the most lockouts in one day from iThemes Security: Lockouts: There have been 150 lockout(s) including 80 user(s) and 70 host(s) locked out of your site. Asswipes. I’m just a small blog but have to have security that would choke a government security horse to keep it safe. Asswipes.

Pretty normal Sunday so far. Updated the MCARC site and tried to make it post to the other “Social” sites as needed. Not sure if it’s working or not. I figure I might as well update our FB page when I post; and there’s no reason the folks on G+ and Tumblr shouldn’t share in the fun. Supposed to have the monthly ARES check-in before the 2-meter Chat Net tonight.

Watching the guys pass pictures back and forth on EasyPal. Starting laundry. Got most of my “usual” chores done. Still need to move the 12 foot ladder out of the bathroom and back into the garage. SWMBO is going to make dinner tonight.

I gotta tell y’all one of the things that really bothers me. When I look in the mirror at my hair or beard, I see the occasional hair that is still dark brown. What? Didn’t they get the fookin’ memo? Or is that just Nature’s way of reminding me of what once was?

Dinner SWMBO made was delicious. The broccoli was done to perfection. Almost crunchy chewy without being too tough to actually chew. Shrimp Fettuccini I think she called it. Was good though.

Yeah. It Was A Busy Day Yesterday

I spent yesterday either prepping for painting, actually painting, or cleaning up after painting. And it took all damned day for one damned room. Looks good though. Lots better than it did. Now I just have to pick up the molding (and install it), Counter Tops (and build the support for/install  them), get SWMBO to fix my curtains (and install them), and get all my stuff moved back into my room. Shouldn’t take more than a week or so.

Got up way too early for a Saturday and drove to Shelton for the MCARC monthly meeting. It lasted 1.5 hours this time and I thought everyone would never stop talking towards the end. Nice meeting though. Have some things to do with the website; and figure out how to find out who are AARL members so we can get affiliated with AARL. Something about we get some of the fees back when we renew our club membership through AARL. I don’t know. Yet.

Really foggy out for the drive over and back. I’m sitting around waiting for SWMBO to come home so we can go out and do the things we need to do. Home Depot here we come! (Probably via Teriyaki Chicken first.)

Which is exactly how it turned out. Teriyaki Chicken, Home Depot (where I bought molding and my counter tops), Safeway, and home. All with the best Date in the world! (I am a pretty lucky guy!)
