Well, not really frantic. Nor even hectic.Nor even particularly busy. I’d have to go for exceptionally lazy. Or pretty lazy. But exceptionally lazy sounds about right also.

Did manage to get out and water the garden a couple of times. Gardens Need watering.

Thinking of something like this for the next time we take a trip of any duration:

At least we’d be able to save a few bucks by staying at camp grounds. Or maybe the full travel trailer? We’re not sure yet. If we went very much larger we’d have to buy a new truck to haul it around; which we can’t afford as neither of us is working right now. (Not that we can afford to buy a travel trailer right now either! Just thinking about the future…)

But, the trip we just made (Belfair, Wa to Oregon, Oh to SLC, UT to Belfair, Wa) convinced us we would use a “camper” while on the road. A couple of times it would have been nice to pull over and catch a couple of hours sleep without having to rent a room.

Did get my 6-btv antenna reassembled and put up. Tried using the Baofeng program to program that new baofeng radio I got just before we left on vacation. Danged thing read the settings once then wouldn’t let me program it. Could change all the other settings but would not communicate with the radio to save the new frequency settings. So I learned to program it manually. Note for all you baofeng owners out there: You HAVE to delete a saved “channel” before you can save your new frequency to that ‘channel.” Just thought you’d want to know.

Nice day out. 80+ degrees. Too bad I have neighbors…

Doing things around the house and mounting my Ham Radio into my truck. Well, I haven’t actually mounted it, but all the wires are in place. Put the radio in and took a trip to Allyn (to drop my generator off at Larry’s) and the radio worked just fine. It’s the antenna that I’m going to have to move. Cab blocks too much of the signal where it is on the top of the bed-edge. Looks like I’m going to have to put a hole in the middle of my roof! Ah well. She’s an old truck anyway. Gonna ask the opinions of the guys at the MCARC meeting this Saturday before I do anything else.

Like I said: took my generator to Larry to get him to do a tune-up and whatever it needs to run again. Just in case we need it this coming winter. You know, this coming winter where we’ll get 5 feet of snow cause I sold my digger and have no way to move large amounts of snow now. Yeah, that winter!

There was a conga-line of traffic coming back from Allyn. Crawled all the way from the High School (up on the hill) through town to my turn. It was only 1730 or so and I have no idea what was holding traffic up. Maybe I ought to vote for that by-pass?

SWMBO drug me downstairs for a couple of hours of putting in the flooring for our son’s room. What fun! At least we’ve mostly learned to work together on things like this. Planning and working together to build a house will do that with you. Or make you kill one another!

And that’s about it for now. Just “chillin” until time to hit the rack.

Even though it was Mother’s Day, SWMBO volunteered to broil steak the way she likes them broiled. Add baked potato’s and succotash (lima beans and corn) and it was a meal to remember! She does pretty good most times!

Not doing much else today. Lot’s cooler and sometimes wet out so the dog and I went for only one walk. Tried “flying” but have a prop problem with the Drone. (Replaced one of the gear thingies and now it will suddenly stop and fall from the sky. I have NO idea what the problem is. Yet!)

Been watching “The Universe” and working on the pictures I’ve scanned trying to straighten them up into some kind of order. Re-arranged the SkyDrive albums a bit. I’m using SkyDrive as a backup that anyone can see (link at right) just in case someone needs to comment on a picture or can name someone I have in the wrong place. I don’t expect anyone to do either; but one can always hope.

MCARC 2-meter Chat Net @ 1930 again. I have mixed feelings about being Net Control for this net every week. I enjoy doing it, but, sometimes I’d rather be doing something else. We had a lot of problems with the repeater last week… And we had those same problems this week! And only 3 of the guys checked in. I don’t blame them though; what with the repeater acting so weird. Ah well. We’ll be replacing the antenna soon and then we’ll see what’s what.
