SSDD. My Life. Welcome!

Moved a lot of dirt and some trees out at the property Tuesday & Wednesday. SSDD.

Got up at 0530 and met another contractor in Belfair at 0700 to take him out and show him the place we want to build our dome. He seemed less than impressed. Nice guy. Ray. I think we’ll be able to work together. He wants 18% of the total. Which I understand is a good deal. Still seems kind of expensive to me…SSDD.

Came on home early cause it was COLD out there. Wound up going back around noon and tried digging up a big tree stump. Digger sprung a hydraulic fluid leak somewhere in the innards. I stopped what I was doing and came on back home cause I really didn’t feel like messing with it today. If it ain’t rainin’ tomorrow I’ll head back out with my tool kit and see what I can see. I’m learning WAY more about heavy machinery than I ever thought I would!

Stopped by the Other Contractor I’d left our paperwork with the other day. Lincoln Builders. Earl said he was through with the paperwork and had a bid in mind for me. He wants 20% right off the top ($300k total cost means PLUS $60k for him) then, with ME doing all the work (dealing with sub-contractors, getting new guesstimate’s, all that a contractor usually does) he’d be a "consultant" for $100 an hour. Excuse me? All I really wanted him to do was handle the money and help when I needed a contractor in the spotlight; but $60k Plus seems kind of expensive to me.

Was feeling kind of depressed, dejected and rejected when I got home. Told SWMBO to get dressed cause I needed a taco. So she took me to Baco Tell (Taco Hell) (Taco Bell) and I had my taco. Plus two more. Plus a bean barrito. Was kind of hungry. Course the best part of the meal was just being out with her and us talking about the dome and stuff.

Redneck statement

2008-03-02-Moving Dirt Again!

Fairly nice day so I went out to the property and moved some dirt around. As usual. I really enjoy it out there and I even like moving dirt around. Made a new time-lapse video and added some music to it. You can check it out here.

Not much else going on.

Saturday – Still SSDD

Not too much going on today. Went out to the property even though the weatherpersons predicted some rain with possible thunder storms. Moved a lot of mud around… Rained on me a couple of times but not hard and not for long. Was really kind of nice out there. Except for the rocks I love that place!

A man with a gun goes into a bank and demands their money. Once he is given the money, he turns to a customer and asks, “Did you see me rob this bank?” The man replied, “Yes sir, I did.” The robber then shot him in the temple, killing him instantly. He then turned to a couple standing next and asked the man, “Did you see me rob this bank?” The man replied, “No sir, I didn’t, but my wife did.”

Friend came over tonight to see if I could UN-delete about 400 pictures he accidentally deleted from both his hard drive and his USB drive. We wound up having to buy “WinUndelete”. Worked great. And it was worth the $50 to my friend not to have to re-scan most of his pictures and hunt the rest down on the Internet. (He’s a BIG genealogy freak!)

Manure…An interesting fact

Manure: In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by ship and it was also before commercial fertilizer’s invention, so large shipments of manure were common.

It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, it not only became heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is methane gas. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did) happen.Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM!

Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was happening

After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the term ’Ship High In Transit’ on them, which meant for the sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.

Thus evolved the term ’ S.H.I.T ’ , (Ship High In Transport) which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day.You probably did not know the true history of this word. Neither did I.

I had always thought it was a golf term

Fairly Normal Friday

Got out to the property and moved dirt around for a couple of hours yesterday. Started digging a trench from the dome hole opening to where the dome will be. Gotta get the water, electrical, phone and cable lines underground before summer. Read somewhere that leaving them above ground will degrade the pvc/coverings. Was nice out there when the sun wasn’t hidden by a cloud. Worked on that a few hours before rushing home to BBQ a couple of pork chops for us for dinner. They was good!

Pretty normal Friday except that I slept pretty late. SWMBO kept me up kind of late last night. Mostly sat around ripping my movies (I AM going to get them all ripped and on a drive or two) and playing with Divx 720p format. Looks good but the files are Huge! About 1430 SWMBO and I took off for Silverdale and the mall.

Walked the mall then SWMBO took me to Red Lobster for LobsterFest. So I got the Ultimate Feast. Was good if a bit expensive. We could have eaten at the Food Court in the mall and it would have been okay with me as long as I was with SWMBO. Know what I mean?

Skipped our usual Albertson’s trip and came on home. We really need only a couple of items and with me along we’d probably spend too much. SWMBO’s going to stop by for those after she get’s done with the Genealogy Library tomorrow. Been watching "Hell In The Pacific" a documentary about WWI and the Japanese. Learned LOTS of things I never knew. Think I’ll add it to my Netflix Que…
