Rain Rain Rain Rain

I’m already sick of the damned rain! Been raining several days now; which pretty much keeps me home. This keeps up and I’ll NEED to find a job. Cabin fever is setting in. Guess I’m too used to getting out during the day. But I’ve done about as much as I can do out at the property so there’s no sense in wasting gas going out there and back.

So, who knows what movie this picture is from?

I’m Sick Of Computers Today!

Not only am I on mine 10 hours a day (making music, ripping my dvd’s, scanning pictures, whatever) but I spent a good 6 hours today building a computer for a friend of mine, installing Linux and getting the damned modem to work. Finally did it. Finally got it over to his house and set up. Finally got the damned thing to connect to Juno (of all places). And he finally got to read his mail.

This week has been pretty much SSDD. Been staying around the house cause of the weather: Rain. Did manage to get out to the property yesterday and put in some more drainage; hopefully my road won’t wash out this year! Our regular "date night" last Friday was later than usual as SWMBO worked the Genealogy Library 1000-1400. Then we drove into Tacoma to return the flooring samples she’d borrowed and ate at a very slow Pizza Hut (next to Timberline Bank) before heading home. Made our usual stop at Albertson’s and spent our usual too much. I hate driving in traffic! I can but I hate it. (I did learn to drive in L.A. a long time ago.) At least with the new bridge the old bridge (coming back this way) is a lot faster.

Not much else going on. Been watching the news and am not encouraged. That $700 Billion "bailout" finalized at around $850 Billion cause buttheads kept adding stuff to the bill. Why in the Hell can’t they pass a Bill for what it was supposed to be ONLY? God forbid they should try to save the Taxpayers some money!

I Have Subscribers!

And no one has tried to spam me! Wow! Double Wow! Nine people have lives even more pathetic than mine that they read my blog for some excitement! No, no, I’m just kidding, folks. I appreciate each subscriber and hope y’all check in and leave a comment every once in a while. All are welcome!

Not much going on. It’s Friday and I’m sitting watching Headline News (where everything is talked to death). SWMBO is covering the Genealogy Library (in Bremerton) for someone 1000-1400 today so we won’t be going for our usual breakfast at the FHP in Port Orchard. I think she has plans for us to return some flooring samples to the store in Tacoma this afternoon and find a place to eat over there. Outback Steakhouse sounds good to me!

Weather has turned nasty with rain a greater part of the day yesterday. Cloudy and cool today with more on the way for the week. Guess the time for going out to the property and getting naked is over for the year. Bummer! I hate winter! Went to the Sears warehouse yesterday to pick up SWMBO’s new weed whacker on wheels and it started to downpour just as I pulled in to their parking lot, kept raining as we were loading it into the back of my truck, but stopped just as soon as I pulled out of their parking lot. Go figure!

Been watching all the political stuff on tv and still have absolutely no idea who to vote for. The thing I worry about is some Redneck Asshole with a rifle out there that doesn’t want no "Black SOB A-rab" as POTUS. I hope I’m wrong though. If he were assassinated the riots afterwards would tear the whole country apart.

Anywho, y’all, it’s been a fairly normal week even though going out to the property is going into ’once a week to see how things are holding together’ mode. I think I’ll spend this winter getting some of the things done that I’ve been meaning to do around this house. Some molding and things like that. The computer I was working on for Phillip up the road went TU so I’ll have to work around that. Dog needs a flea bath. DVD’s to rip and convert. Old family pictures to scan and store. Old cruise books from the USS Turner Joy (DD-951) to scan and store. I really ought to get off my ass!

I’m Late! I’m Late! I Know!

Sorry about that. When your days are pretty much the same day in and day out you kind of lose track of time. And getting OLD doesn’t help! Many things going on this week. Yesterday, that bailout was defeated in Congress; which I have mixed feelings about. On the one hand, our economy could go further down the drain if we don’t give (whoever) the money. On the other hand; there are about 300 MILLION legal American’s in this country and if the government was to give each of us one Million Dollars, we’d all be able to pay off our bills and still save about $699 Billion. Sounds good to me. Sent a message to headlinenews@cnn.com and said:

It amazes me that we can pull $700 Billion “out of our hats” to save private business when we’ve so many other things that need to be done but haven’t the money for. Or so we’ve been told. If we can find the money for the bailout, then let’s pull the money and start the old Job Corps back up and employ some of our unemployed and get some of our bridges (and other public works) fixed!

I don’t know if they read it on air or not…

So, to catch up:

Monday: Rented a wood splitter and spent my day out splitting wood.Cause that’s what you do with a wood splitter…Spent the evening recovering!

Tuesday: Took the splitter back. Came home and cleaned up and went and got a haircut.

Wednesday: SWMBO’s normal day at the office. I spent the day lounging around the house cause I caught a cold that was Kicking My Ass!

Thursday: Raining. Stayed home. SWMBO’s brother came over for the afternoon and dinner. (Luckily he was gone before Smallville came on! Clark’s first day working at the Daily Planet was killer!) She took him to COSTCO to buy him a small microwave. Gave him one of my old 80 Gig hard drives. Never thought I’d see a day where I’d give away an 80 Gig drive! (My first Hard drive was actually a Hard Card, 40 Megabytes and cost me almost $500.)

Friday: Pretty normal Friday. SWMBO slept LATE so we wound up going out to Taco Bell in the afternoon. Regular shopping trip at Albertson’s where we spent WAY too much. Spent the evening just lounging around the house. Still got that cold.< ?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Saturday: This cold is kicking my butt! Did get out to the property to try to enjoy some of the last of the good weather we’ll get this year. Was nice out there! Hot & Sunny.

Sunday: Missed church cause of this cold. Just wasn’t feeling good. Did get out to the property this warm afternoon and lay out a bit. Was damned nice out there! Wish I hadn’t had a headache… Did manage to stack the last of the wood I split after I got home.

Monday: Nice HOT day. Too Cool! Laid out at the property for awhile but came home early cause I was getting a headache.SWMBO was off to Tacoma to talk to the flooring people. She came home and took me out to teriyaki Chicken for dinner. Now just “chillin’”.

Today: Stayed home and got some of the things accomplished that I’ve been putting off by going out to the property.

Mostly in the evenings I’ve been ripping my dvd’s to .avi files and working on a computer for a friend that lives up the road. Having a hell of a time getting Linux to recognize ANY modem (and I’ve tried several). But that old V-Buddy computer has been just sitting in the back room for 3 years or so and Phil does need a "new" computer. Trying to load it with Linux cause he’s having lots of trouble with his Win 98 and Win 2k machines. But he really does pretty good for a guy that’s 70 years old.

The guys at DVDVideoSoft have put out a new version of their VideoToFlv converter that plays a list of .flv files so I’ll be redesigning my video’s page. Some times I have too damned much to do!

Now if this cold would just go away…
