Trip – Day 2

Didn’t post last night cause I was so tired! I got up at 0300, got her up at 0330, and we were out of the house by 0400. Wow! Missed all that early morning traffic in the Seattle area, got on Highway 18 to I-90 and stopped in Deer Lodge, Montana 12 hours later.

Today we hit the road about 0700 and have just stopped in Moorcroft(?), Wyoming for the night. We decided to stay here andn go see the Devil’s Tower tomorrow morning; since we’re not in a real rush to get to Toledo.

My Goodness! The scenery we’ve seen these past two days! Wonderful. Beautiful. Majestic. I could live in Montana. (In the Summer. Not butt-deep in freezing cold during the Winter. I’m a real cold Wx pussy.) But, if not for Winter, I could live in Montana.

Anyway. Just wanted to check in. I’m gonna to shower and lay down. Almost 1100 miles so far. Phew!

Today May Be The Last Lay Out Naked Day For 2016

wxtoday

imagwweSo the Dog and I took advantage of it as much as we could. Didn’t do too bad for the Sun not even showing until after noon. I say it may be the last for 2016 cause of the above (which really doesn’t improve much in the forseeable future) and that we’re going on vacation and won’t be back until Winter is setting in. Ah, well. Sucks.

Not a whole lot going on here either. Tractor is still sitting in the back 40 waiting for the rental folks to come pick it up. Still won’t start. So the Dog and I spent some time just walking out there and back. Occasionally jiggling the key to see if that would work. Nothing too violent though!

Started some slow cooked pulled pork around 1400 that didn’t get cooked all the way until about 1800. So I ate late. Fried up some shoestring taters to go with a couple of sandwiches. Was good.

Forgot that the Sweet Young Thing I married is going to her first Genealogy class in Gig Harbor tonight. So she won’t be home until late. Luckily, her Son is taking her there and waiting to bring her home. Otherwise I’d have to go pick her up. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing.

So, since it’s this Old Guy’s bedtime (or damned near) I think I’ll go lay down and read until she does get home.

I Have Not Accomplished Crap Today!

Fashion001aActually, come to think of it, that’s about the only thing I have accomplished today. Regularity is important for a man my age. But, it was really nice outside today so the Dog and I spent a lot of time outside walking and doing “things” out there. And my usual chores inside, of course.

We had to put our clothes back on for awhile to take some “before” pictures so I can take some “after” pictures tomorrow after I do what I want to do with the tractor. (Go back and read it slow and it’ll make sense.)

Fashion003aTook some of the ham left over from dinner last night, cubed it up, doused it with Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce, and stir-fried it until it was crispy along the edges. Added some small potato blend veggies and dinner was served.

Rental guy called and said he’d be dropping the tractor off about 0730 tomorrow. Cool! Gonna need time to learn to drive/operate it though. Never used one before.

SWMBO is home and eating. Since she’s going to hop into a shower I think I’m outta here!

Thirty years this December. And still  Wow.

I Am Not Looking Forward To Winter!

Well, I think it’s begun:

Tuesday – Partly sunny, with a high near 73.
Wednesday – Rain likely before 11am, then showers likely after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 67.
Thursday – Showers likely, mainly after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Friday – A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66.
Saturday – A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69.

So, it may be getting time to keep a pair of long pants handy. Sucks.

Today was nice though. Somewhere between 75 and 80 degrees. Definite coolness to the air at 0930 when I went to check mail. Got hot this afternoon. A warm wind sprang up. That was really nice. Felt good. We took several walks around the back of the property. (Sometimes it’d be nice to have a person along for the walks. Dog is okay, but he don’t talk much. And he doesn’t always stay with me.)

Fashion035sFashion038sSo I was trying to do things outside. Took my saw out and cut the shelf supports for the Caravan cabinet. Got the first 2 put in (have to use glue cause the “wood” is so thin). Gonna let it dry overnight and do the second 2 tomorrow. I figure even with using glue (a good wood glue) that the shelves should hold 5 or 10 lbs of the Thrive food. As long as we put bottles of liquid on the bottom it should work. Guess we’ll find out next trip!

Checked into the Peninsula Amateur Radio Emergency Net (at least, I think that’s it’s name) but was really scratchy to them. Then, on our local North Club (NMARES) net they didn’t have any problem hearing me but I couldn’t hear them worth beans. Time to get off my fat, old, ass and get my antenna moved! (And soon!) Then one of the new Hams was trying different frequencies to test out his new radio and antenna. Cool!

Other than that, not a whole lot going on. SWMBO stayed up way too late last night finishing a book (which I totally understand) so she’s probably going to lay down early. Think I’ll join her!
