Gettin’ Old Is Not For The Weak!

So my lovely-young-bride of 34+ years is finding out. Not that she’ll ever get “old.” To me at least. She walked into another room while I was talking then complained she couldn’t hear me.Welcome to My World.

Forgot that I was a member (in good standing) on the Steam platform. Was weeding out my logins and passwords yesterday and found the entry. Hey, didn’t I pay for a few “games” on that? Yes. Yes I did.

Threw Some Moons At The Earth

So I logged on using this ACEPC mini-computer and installed “Universe Sandbox,” a Universe sim, and spent a couple of hours lobbing meteor’s at Earth. Cool! Got a “not enough video memory so will be running in lower graphics mode” error; but it worked just fine and really looked good. You could see each explosion from each meteor (if they’re big enough. The meteor, not the explosion. Nevermind.).

Then I set it to downloading and installing MSFS X (10.8 GIG!). Took all night but finished up about 0800. Installed and runs nice. Graphics look over 10 years old(which they are) but it runs pretty smooth. X-Plane 10 is next!

clThat I barely believe the “News” anymore is well known and I tend to research stories through multiple sources  before making up my mind. So, this morning I was reading an article about Cheryl Ladd complaining about always having to wear bikini’s for Charlie’s Angels. So I searched “Cheryl Ladd Tiny Bikini.” When SWMBO saw my screen it was tough getting her to believe I was researching every possible angle of the story to get to the truth of the matter.

Gee, what a rough life.

In my efforts to make my life easier I quit Social Media (FB, Thumblr, GAB, etc). Now I’m in a quandary of what to do with olddocking.us. I originally set it up for my family to upload and display their old family pics. They aren’t interested. Not sure if I want to continue it or just rely on Google Photos; where you can keep your originals free. Easier to share too. I just don’t know. Every time I mention getting rid of stanking.org SWMBO goes ‘But, mah mail!.”

WHO released new figures recently. Seems approximately 750 million folks World Wide got the Covid. Approximately 1 million died from it. That’s 0.13%. Same as the seasonal flu. Democrats fooked us over for the flu. Are y’all paying attention yet?

I swear. When I see people outside walking along by themselves and they’ve got a mask on, I really want to stop and bitch slap some sense into them. Not that it would do any good. I saw a guy peddling his bicycle the other day with a mask on. Dipshit.

I like to show folks in Walmart just how good their masks are with an “Old Guy Fart” when I walk by them. If you can’t smell that, you’ve got a good mask on.

Screw Daylight Savings. Pick A Time And Live With It.

Was sitting here watching the original “Gojira,” the one before Raymond Massey got spliced in, and I thought: “This’d be the perfect time for Commander Worf to pipe up ‘You haven’t truly experienced Gojira until you’ve seen it in the original Klingon’.”

Y’all ever notice that the rest of the World (and most everyone not in your neighborhood in the States) might as well be Klingon? Nobody understands and everyone’s hostile.  We all need some Romulan Ale and Chill. And Universal Translators.

Back Of The House & Back Yard

I’ve gotten to where I can’t watch the News anymore. It’s not “news.” Everyone’s got an angle. And I’m tired of the BS stories the Liberal rags pass off as “news” to try to get President Trump not re-elected. Mostly straight up lies, misrepresentation, or exaggerations. I’m hoping Trump has a real landslide at the polls so there is NO doubt about how Conservatives feel. Fuck ‘em. (But don’t get me started. Maybe I should start up Redneck Mormon again?)

A little old lady who had lost her marbles was running up and down the halls in a nursing home. As she ran, she would flip up the hem of her nightgown and say “Supersex.” She ran up to an elderly man in a wheelchair, flipping her gown at him, she said, “Supersex.” He sat silently for a moment or two and finally answered, “I’ll have the soup.”

Not a whole lot going on around here. Had some rain. Had some almost rain. Hear it’s already snowing in the Cascades down to around 5000 ft. Still haven’t got the top section of my tower up.

Looking for a tractor or digger. Probably a tractor with a digger attachment. Struck mini-bulldozer with some attachments is starting to look interesting. Whatever I get will have “skid steer?” attachments. Mostly need a blade, bucket, and box scraper. Digger attachment would get used only occasionally and if I could rent one …

And I like tracks. Had a 1969 JD350 bulldozer and 1999 Nissan mini-excavator once upon a time and just like tracks. You get where you want to go with tracks!

Mah Favorite Screensaver

Oh, tried getting new tabs again. They still haven’t fixed their glitch that won’t let me renew but will still sell me new tabs. So I got another 15 day temp. Y’all think it strange that the State can require you to have tags and tabs then charge you for them? Doesn’t seem not right to anyone? Yet if I require someone to pay me to protect their property it’s extortion. Go figure.

I hate October.

Just A Ray Of Sunshine Is All I Need

Emptying a can of Beef Veggie Soup into the pot I’m warming it in, I reflected, while spooning out the last dregs of soup in the can, that my Great-Grandma would have severely chastised me for scraping the inside of the can in my efforts to get every drop I paid for. “You wanna get lead poisoning and die?!” would have come easily from her lips.

To which I had better have a respectful “No, Ma’am.” or Grandpa would have kicked my butt. (But we don’t have to worry about that particular threat nowadays. Thank goodness.)

Our Driveway. We're saving up for color next year!

Yesterday was Date Day with the lovely SWMBO. Got her up kinda early and we went for a day trip. Drove through Bremerton (on 3 North) by Poulsbo to Port Gamble (Where we’d never been before and SWMBO found a nice little quilt shop), back to Highway 104 with a side trip to Port Ludlow and the back way to Port Townsend (seems to be a pattern here), back through Discovery Bay to Sequim (the ‘e’ is silent), to Port Angeles, Highway 101 back to just north of Shelton and the back way to Home in Belfair. Nice Day! Great Company!

Got to let Wiz (the Dog) run free on the beach in Port Townsend and down by Shelton. He chased some birds into the water and didn’t want to come out. He’s a water dog. Which is okay but we didn’t know. You could see he didn’t like the taste of sea water but that didn’t keep him out of it.

I had a great time being out with SWMBO. She’s a pretty good Navigator too.

Not a lot going on today. Reading how some folks wish bad on President Trump and Wife for getting the COVID. Those people should be dragged into the street and shot. Even I wouldn’t wish disease on my worst enemy. (Which I’m not sure I have any; but still …).

Scanning my Uncle’s pictures and ripping CD’s. Up to the “K’s” now.

Dang! Forgot to post this last night!

SWMBO had her friends over to watch conference and quilt. I made home made vanilla ice cream for all of us after lunch. They seemed to like it.

So, today was kind of a lazy day.  About all I did was pull down some dead tree’s along the driveway and feed them to the trash fire. Rendered the last of the tomato crop into tomato sauce. No spices except for a bit of salt and pepper so we can use it how we please later. Burned trash.

Took the easy way out for my dinner: Got 2 cups of water boiling and added fresh peas. Broke up a hamburger patty and browned it. Drained and mixed that in the hot water with a package of “instant” mashed potato’s. Seasoned to taste and that was my dinner. SWMBO is on her own tonight. (I also cooked breakfast this morning.)

Anywho, Wx has turned and now it’s at least sweater time. Sux.

Clonezilla ClusterFookin’HellGoin’On?

Wanted to clone my Linux computer boot SSD to a larger SSD so I rebooted into Clonezilla. Which I’ve used hundreds (ok, about 20) times and had no problems with. I know what I’m doing. (He said as he stepped off the cliff…)

Set up the source drive (120g ssd), destination drive (250g ssd) and continued. After about 8 seconds Clonezilla told me it couldn’t make a partition on the destination drive. Wha?

So I took the Clonezilla drive out and rebooted. Except it wouldn’t boot. Then it’d boot but reboot. Wha?

So, wound up just replacing the drive and reinstalling Linux xfce. Replace the broken cd drive at the same time. Rebuilding all my software/e-mail, whatever now. Oh, the Joy! Amazing the number of programs I install and use.

Nice out today. Got up on the roof yesterday and got the pole down that was holding my 2-meter antenna at one time. It’s now a cross-member on the top section of my tower ready to fly flags or hold a long-wire. Both probably. That’s all done and my neighbor (the one that bought the 12-ton man-lift “cause I needed it.”) is going to bring his man-lift down next week and help me put that last section up. That’ll be fun!

Otherwise, ssdd around here.

Just tried to make a political comment and failed miserably. Having a hard time with the Democrats/Liberals and the things they’re doing to make President Trump lose this election. Our society has gone so far down the rabbit hole these past 15 years or so. I’m expecting a LOT of violence when he does get re-elected. I just wish we could fight fire with fire. Maybe if we let folks know we won’t stand for their bullshit and will actively fight back they’ll settle their asses down. Someone is going to have to hurt, and hurt bad, for them to get the message.

But we don’t see them in our neighborhood. They know some of us have diggers and lots of property…

Just set up fstab for my local and network drives. Forgot the credentials file. Samba & cifs-utils working. All the directories made locally. sudo mount –a worked! Cool!
