The News-Weenies Are Going Nuts!

About the whole half inch of snow we’ve gotten around the area today. Most schools are closed; and the rest are on delayed schedule. Ok, some places over towards the North & East may have gotten a couple of inches, but the News-Weenies are making it sound like “snowmageddon” again. People, get a life! It’ll all be gone by noon today.

SWMBO took me to the Family Pancake House for breakfast for our 27th Anniversary. Can’t believe it’s been 27 years! She’s still my Special Lady!

Not much else going on right now. Most of the snow is gone, the wind is blowing, and it’s way too cold, for me, to get outside for any length of time. Think I’ll putter around the house for the rest of the day.

Here’s a minor prediction for y’all: I’d be willing to bet that China is going to send 2 or 3 people to Mars (one a one-way mission) JUST so history will record that a Chinese was the first human there. How much y’all want to bet?

Mini Doctor Who Marathon. Finished out the first season of the reboot and now watching the first episode of the next. Almost bedtime though.

Fairly Normal SSDD Sunday!

Which means I didn’t do a lot. Regular laundry day. Spaghetti & Spaghetti Squash (and Texas Toast) for dinner. Dishes.

Did get off my duff and blanch the beans and peas we’ve been picking over the last couple of days. They’re freezing now then we’ll put them in sealable sandwich bags and back in the freezer. Glad to get that done for what we have picked. Lots more on the vines. Tomato’s getting bigger also! Soon it’ll be time to reduce them for sauce.

Cloned my backup file of my laptop to a virtual machine to play with it in VMWare. It wants me to register it (Windows 7) though so I don’t know how long I’ll be able to play with it. Sides, I’m just playing around to see what I can do. Got this utility from the VMWare folks that lets me turn a physical drive into a virtual drive. Could be fun…

And that’s about it for today. Just not much else going on. Wx has been okay but overcast. Hope it clear out before tonight! I woke up at 0140 and stepped outside to see if I could see any Perseid meteors, but it was cloudy so I went back to bed.. Woke up again 0430 and did the same. Sometimes I really hate this place! Next time we’re going to be out in the desert somewhere so we can see the Perseids!

Where To Look.

Trying to watch this live online. The Slooh Space Camera seems to be frozen (at least the clouds aren’t moving. Too much light too; it should be totally dark there but the clouds are pinkish…) and the NASA camera out of Huntsville, AL shows mostly clouds and some lightning.

Wow! Thunder Boomers Early!

WAY early. At 0147 we had such a boom of thunder that it was probably directly overhead. Woke me up and I looked at the clock is how I know what time it was. Laid there listening to fairly regular thunder for about another 10 minutes or so before just falling back asleep. You could hear it start way off in the distance and move towards, and over, our place. It was cool!

I thought about getting up and setting my video camera up but figured it would all be over before long; so I didn’t. Only saw a couple of flashes of lightning too. Ah well.

Got up and did all my “usual” things this morning. About noon I went and parked at the school and took the shuttle to the “Taste of Hood Canal” (Belfair Bites) down along the street where Safeway is. Got my usual pictures of all the old cars and did my usual walking around. It was fun! Not too hot out but still nice enough. Another fine display.

Picked a butt-ton of beans and peas from the garden. When SWMBO got home we went down and picked some more. Good batch of everything this year. Even the corn is growing big! (Unusual for my garden.) No, we don’t have enough of anything to last a year; but we  have a few meals worth. I suppose we could turn the whole yard into a “garden,” but then we’d be Farming!
