Rainy, Getting Windy, Dismal Day

It was a dark and cloudy day. Drizzle deliciously descending despite my deliriously fervent desire for the contrary. If not for the Displaced Dinosaur,Rampaging Robots, Mythological Medieval Hero, I probably wouldn’t have survived the morning. (Thanks, Doc!)

What’s that in the mirror, or the corner of your eye?
What’s the footstep following, but never passing by?
Perhaps they’re all just waiting, perhaps when we’re all dead.
Out they’ll come a-slithering, from underneath the bed.

Oh, and I made a mail run too.

Information Junkie. That’s Me.

Cause I’m always looking “stuff” up online. And it’s never been easier. My morning, uh, business, involves taking my Nexus 7 in with me where I catch up on Tumblr, G+, Facebook, and read which ever “News” site I feel like at that moment. (They are all different in their approach to the “news” so it depends on what I’m looking for.) I gotta be honest: sometimes I sit there so long my legs start to tingle. (Way too much information.)

Throughout the day I’m checking my e-mail and following links to different articles sent to me. Then I’ll come across something “interesting” and spend some time on Wikipedia or wherever. Lots of interesting “stuff” out there.

Then, at bedtime, I’ll lay down and catch up on Tumblr, G+, and Facebook again before finally falling asleep. After I check my e-mail again. If I don’t go watch a video on flying or WWII or Lightning or whatever on YouTube.

Why? You may ask. I don’t know. It’s not like me knowing anything is going to change the world. But I still want to know. Not enough to do during the day? Old, Retired, and feeling useless? Hmmm. Could be. Obsessive-Compulsive? Maybe.

Made a run to PSNS to get a sticker for my new truck. They don’t issue stickers anymore; but did put me in the system. Seems all you have to do now is show your ID Card (which you had to do anyway). So, cool.

Other than that it’s just an SSDD around here. MCARC Wednesday 2-meter Chat Net went well. Watching “Burn Notice” and just chilling.

Guess How My Day Has Gone So Far…

If you said “SSDD” then you win the prize! If you said “Beyond SSDD” then you win the Grand Prize! Ultra SSDD would be closer to the truth though. OMG, SSDD!

I’m ready to move. Really. I’m ready for Big Sky country out in the middle of Oregon or Arizona (or even Southern Nevada). I like our house; it’s just in a crappy neighborhood in a crappy State during the crappiest part of the year. You know, Hot & Sunny changing to  Sunny but Cold to Raining all the damned time to maybe snow flurries time of year. I should live in Hawaii or Guam. I’d go for a deserted South Seas Island if I can have high-speed Internet too.

Ah well. Was going to cook Fried Chicken, Steamed Cauliflower and Mashed Potato’s for dinner as we thought some friends were coming over. They aren’t so I guess we’ll have Fried Chicken, Steamed Cauliflower, and Mashed Potato’s for Two instead. Then I’ll have the chicken I already thawed out sometime this week in something else. (Wound up frying it anyway. Ah well. I like cold fried chicken.)

Not much else going on around here. Watching guys pass pictures back and forth on Easypal on the Radio. Caught up with Tumblr. Got my usual chores done and am doing laundry. About to parboil the Brussels Sprouts.

MCARC 2-meter Sunday Evening Chat Net went really well. About 9 check-ins and it lasted almost 50 minutes. Unusual! Even had a “new” Ham check-n. Cool!

Was Feeling OLD This Morning.

I remember, growing up in the Los Angeles area, when, about 0100 or so in the morning, our TV stations would play the National Anthem, show a “test pattern” for a few minutes, then go off air until 0600 or so. You could not spend all night watching tv because all the stations shut down for a few hours. We had Channels 2-4-5-7-9-11-13 (some UHF Channels) and Cal Worthington. Bozo-The Clown, Chuckles-The Birthday Clown, Sheriff John, Engineer Bill, Sunday Bullfights, and Jack LaLanne.

Oh, I have a litany of old shows we used to watch: Phil Silvers, Dennis The Menace, Have Gun Will Travel, Leave It To Beaver, Wanted-Dead of Alive, Sky King, Father Knows Best, Lucy, Our Miss Brooks, Roy Rogers, Zorro, The Lone Ranger, Rin Tin-Tin, The Rifleman, Daniel Boone, Donna Reed, Comanche, and The Adventures of Superman. Way too many shows to list here.

Daunting to realize that I’m almost older than “widescreen” movies. (Well. Not really. Just feeling that way today.)

Was bored just sitting around the house (which means I was doing my usual chores) so I went for a drive around the peninsula. Posted the pictures on my Flickr if y’all get interested. About 7.5 miles of the road was just dirt barely wide enough for two cars to pass each other. Didn’t see anyone else on the whole road. Cool! Nice ride. Peaceful and quiet at the places I stopped. Cold though.

And now I’m back home and about to get out and trim back the wisteria plant. Maybe. Cold out. So, maybe. Ought to at least take the Dog for a walk.

Which I did. Both. Was fun. Cold though. I’m old. Hate the cold. But I always have.
