Well, Hell, What Can I Say?

Been busy? Well, sorta. Kinda. But, sometimes it’s so boring that I just haven’t anything to write. Even though this blog is dedicated to the every-day minutia(?) of the average American life, sometimes I’m too boring even for myself.

Let’s see: Been running back and forth from here to Belfair almost daily to sign different papers for the house we’re trying to buy. We had the house inspection last Thursday and had to be there early for that. (Issac?) did a great job. Only thing that was really troubling to me was the heater in the MIL apartment shorting out and popping the circuit breaker when we tested it. That’s gotta be replaced. Then more papers to sign trying to work all that out. And even more to sign when the Sellers respond. I didn’t sign this much to join the Navy!

Other than that; just not much going on. I’ve been out to the property a couple of times but, now that I don’t really have a plan to accomplish something that will get us to building a house, I just don’t do anything but sit in the sun (if it’s out) and read. Started practicing building rock walls with the boulders I’ve dug up but I can’t even hardly justify the fuel to do that now that we aren’t building up there. Bummer! I do so enjoy just being out there!

Speaking of which: had a really nice day the other day and I managed to just lazy around the property laying in the sun and reading for a few hours. Would have stayed out there later than I did but got a headache. (WHERE are these damned headaches coming from?) Since then it’s either been cold or raining. Usually both (like today!). Ah well. That’s Warshington weather.

Sat around a couple of hours last night playing all the music video’s I’ve collected from various places. Wish I could write music! I’ve been trying to learn a couple of different programs (Finale & Fruity Loops mostly) but haven’t the musical background to really compose anything. Fruity Loops gives me a lot of instruments to use and I can get down to the note level; but has a high learning curve. Finale does the same thing but gives you a music sheet that you place notes on. Again with the high learning curve. I practice (sometimes!) on the keyboard Phillip is letting me use, but I just don’t seem to have the time!

I’m too old for this shit!

Been watching the news (online) about the Swine Flu. Sounds like the furor we had over the SARS scare a few years ago. That came to nothing. I think this Swine Flu thing will come to nothing also. Oh, I could be wrong; but enough other people are worried about it that it’ll get taken care of. Funniest thing about it (if there is anything funny) is the Scientists looking for another name for the Swine Flu cause they don’t want people to hate Pigs (or have it associated with Pigs or something like that). Go figure! This virus had genetic material from humans, birds & SWINE. So I guess you could call it the Flying ManPig Flu. (Or the HBS Flu?)

That brings an interesting question to mind: If Muslims (of all denominations) can’t consume Pork because it’s an “unclean” animal; what happens if they catch a virus that contains genetic material from Swine? I mean, other than the obvious. (The obvious being that you’ve caught a VIRUS and we haven’t any way to treat (kill) a virus without killing the host.)

Keep getting notices that I have a new member joining my blog; Cool! Although I have to wonder about your level of sanity for reading this drivel, I do appreciate you checking in. I just wish y’all would leave more than a user name and e-mail address. Tell me something about yourselves! The two most popular e-mail domains for people joining my blog are Gmail and Mail.Ru. Mail.Ru is in Russia! Now why would Russians be interested in my blog?

Let me tell you a secret…

That got your attention, didn’t it!? :-P

Wouldn’t You Know That…

Something had to go slightly wrong with the whole house deal! I am not kidding! Everything was going along nice and (too) smooth, and, BAM! Seems our Realtor (Sue) wasn’t as familiar with her new forms as could have been and our offer wasn’t quite what we thought. Turns out we forgot to include the "Seller pays the closing costs" part of our offer. You bet the Sellers accepted our offer of $350k and we pay most everything else!

So we spent a good part of today trying to get that straightened out. Of course the Sellers aren’t going to accept anything different that would cost them money. Neither would I. But they do have to pay Escrow and something else and we have to add $3000 to our loan and still come up with $1800-$2100 (rough estimate on my part) at closing.

Poor Sue feels so bad she’s kicking in $1100 of the closing costs from her commission on this. We really don’t blame her for anything; anyone can get lost when things change. It’s nice though that she’s willing to "fix" the mistake. We’re not usually mistaken in our loyalty to those who treat us well in any dealings!

Just not much else going on unless you count me getting a haircut. Weather sucks! Raining, of course. Got out to the property yesterday for awhile and started practicing making a rock wall with the boulders I’ve dug up. Fun!

Setting up an FTP server on one of the DNS-321’s for practice. It seems to be working but I’m going to have someone else log in and see if it works then. One thing I want is a place I can store the Utilities I use and access them from the web when I’m over working on someone’s computer. Although my 32gb usb drive seems to hold all I really need. Believe it or not; some of the computers I work on are more than 10 years old and don’t have usb ports! Really! Just cracks me up when someone wants Windows XP installed and they have an old (old!) computer and a "gigantic" 2.4GB drive. Can you say "Anchor?" :-P

Damn! We’ve Bought A House!

Or had our offer accepted; I should say.

Yesterday (as I mentioned) we spent a couple of hours filling out the paperwork for a loan and kinda sorta had pre-approval before we left.

Got SWMBO up at 0800 this morning and we headed out to sit down with our Realtor; Sue Harding @ Reid Realty in Belfair. We’re offering $350k and they pay the closing costs.

We had it all done by 1030. SWMBO left to go to the Genealogy Library and teach some folks Genealogy Schtuff. I left to go look at a place (plan B now) that offers 3 bed room, 2 bath & a 3-car garage on 8.5 acres out by where our present property is. (Well, within 10 miles. Dirt road miles!) Looked the place over (Double Wide Moble Home I mean in the middle of NoWhere!) then headed on out to the property and did some dirt moving (not much) and burning of that slash pile. It Hailed and Rained and I even heard thunder a couple of times.

Got home around 1630 to have SWMBO tell me that our offer got accepted. She got the call from Sue around 1530 and had been sitting on pins and needles until I got home so she could tell me. Damn amazing! Tender an offer and get a positive reply in less than 6 hours! I guess the owners were pretty motivated to sell!

Wait. Here’s some from the MLS listing:

Yep, It’s Freakin’ Huge! Of course, we still have some hurdles (Appraisal & House Inspection and a couple of other small things) but we could be moving by the end of May. Cool! I have my concerns, but…

Bout Time I Posted! Y’all Haven’t Heard The News:

Tuesday we found out we got turned down for our house loan. Building, that is. Seems the bank wanted more "Comps" (Houses like the one we wanted to build in the area & what they’ve sold for, etc.) but, there just aren’t any comps in the area for a mostly cement house. Damn! Then they had a ’worry’ about our debt to income ratio. Let’s see: we owe on my truck and the overdraft for the visa card. OTT we pay rent and utilities. OUR bank said our debt to income ratio was great (but, unfortunately, they can’t help us with a loan because we want to build in MASON COUNTY). Other than that: Who knows? SWMBO and I have excellent credit ratings (around 700 each) so I just don’t know.

So, we decided to go with the "Box" House I found a couple of weeks ago and just try to buy the thing. It’s a HUGE house. 4300 sq feet with a two bedroom & living room & kitchen mother-in-law apartment built in on it’s own level. (I think I mentioned it in an earlier post.) Nice place. Hope the neighbors can get along with me.

So, I was out at the property Sunday, Monday & Tuesday anyway since it got over 70 degrees each day. Finally got some color to my cheeks! And my face got some too! Damn, it was nice out there! SWMBO even came out for several hours yesterday and I got some pretty good footage of her operating the digger and pushing dirt. Once she learned to just push the forward/backward levers she really got into it. Think I’ll post the video on YouTube!

Today we spent running around working on financing for the Box house. Just got back from spending several hours in (something like) Golf Banking filling out the paperwork. They love doing VA loans! And since SWMBO and I both have our VA eligibility everything ought to go okay. I say Ought To. We’ll see.

Then I took SWMBO to the Silverdale Mall and fed her one of her favorite sandwiches at the food court. Then we walked around and managed to spend ONLY $50 at the Barnes & Noble. Got out of there cheap; for us.

OTT, not much going on. Still ripping our dvd’s even though I have to do it on the tvserver and copy the files to my computer to convert to avi format. Sill trying to learn FL Studio and have added Finale & Sebilius to the line up. Want to start on 3ds Max too.

Bought a shopping cart "program" for my Brother-In-Law to test and see how well it would work on his site. With a little work it would work well. He still hasn’t done anything and I’m ready to call it quits and cancel the website and everything. Sometimes I want to call him up and tell him "Bud, get off your fat ass and make this work or quit your bitching about how life has fucked you." But if I did SWMBO would give me a hard time about it. Ah well…;)

Anywho, the two DNS file servers I bought are working great! I’ve filled both 1.5tb drives about 2/3’s. Still have about 900 GB available on the other server. Cool!

Oops, gotta reboot. Later!
