Thursday? Again? Didn’t We Have One Last Week?

My Lovely-Young-Bride and I went for a day trip to Leavenworth, WA yesterday. Was fun being out with her and she did a real good job of walking around. Going over Snoqualmie Pass we ran through some rain, snow, rain, snow, and rain. Not enough snow to stick to the road but enough to see. Cleared up rather nicely before we got to town.

On The Main Drag

Walked all around Leavenworth and spent too much on “stuff.” I bought two 5-liter boxes of Apple Cider (it’s good, but not as “tangy” as the last box I bought) and SWMBO made inroads in the Quilt Shop inventory. (Five liters sounds like a lot. It’s only 1.3 gal. So, yes, I paid $20/gal for squished apples.)

We left at 0800 and got back at 1800 and did 376 miles but used a whole tank of gas. Was so empty the “YOU’RE GONNA RUN OUT OF FREAKIN’ GAS!” warning kept flashing. This truck does not get as good gas mileage as my last (6-cyl) Silverado did. (Nor does it ride as well. But it pulls our 23 ft RV lots better!)

Did this crappy video the other day and posted to my YouTube channel. Thought I’d try to show that ACEPC I bought doing some “games.” Anyone can tell I’m not a professional act-tor or anything. Would have used OBS but I didn’t want to use more memory and make what I was trying to show work worse.

NMARES monthly meeting On-Air tonight. Went ok but now I may be participating in Winter Field Day this next January. SOTA & POTA. Last meeting for the year.

Trying to update my photo’s on my other site. Man, my Internet is slow! So I’m thinking I should try to run my own server on one of the pi’s and (somehow) Google sites thingie. There’s a YouTube video on it somewhere…

Another Tuesday

b101bInternet comes to my house via DSL. Cable stops about 3/4 mile away down by the Sandhill park. It’s not bad and mostly works, but, I’ve complained that Bushmen in the middle of Darkest Africa have better-faster (and cheaper) Internet than we do here near one of the technological centers of the U.S.

But, that’s changed now that “ Nokia wins NASA contract to put a 4G network on the Moon.” Which means I can complain that they have better-faster-cheaper Internet on the freakin’  Moon than we do here near one of the technological centers of the U.S.

Thank you, cheapskate American Money Grubbing Internet Providers. (Y’all check out Internet for South Korea sometime. Go on, Google it.)

Augmented Reality for your windshields is coming soon. Already on a few (expensive) vehicles. How long before the porn companies sell a “mod” that makes all the women walking by naked? Wanna bet?

dance1In an e-mail today Amazon recommends the Zune Home AV pack v2 (Discontinued by Manufacturer) because I bought a Zune from them 15 FREAKIN’ YEARS AGO.

I never got pecked by a chicken, but, my Grandma chopped one’s head off once and the body ran up my brother’s chest and danced on his head a moment. He couldn’t eat chicken for the longest time …

“Scientists compare how COVID-19 cough clouds travel with and without face masks.” Yes, we really pay for these kinds of “studies.” As a retired Navy Independent Duty HM I can tell you that the cough won’t travel as far if you wear a mask.  That’ll be $134,000.83 please. Just leave it in the chump change jar.

Since it’s supposed to get down to about freezing here by Friday I got out and dug up all the taters in the raised beds. Not a lot of them this year. Couple of meals worth. Think we’ll have some tonight with meatloaf. May pick corn to go along with it just to irk SWMBO. (Too many starches!)

Gonna get her up early tomorrow as we’re making a day trip to Leavenworth, WA to get some Apple Cider. And spend time together.

Way Cooler Cloudier Day. Sux!

The Truck dealer really wants me to get my oil changed in my year old truck. The last time they changed it they put a sticker in that says to return at 17750 miles. In the 3 months since I’ve driven 1200 miles. That means I have like 1800 to go. Except, every 3 months, they start to bombard me with e-mails that “Your 2019 Chevy Silverado is OVERDUE for an oil change!!!!!!!!!!!!!” So, which is it: 3000 miles or 3 months?

Crab02bgif

Personally, I go with 4000-5000 miles unless I’m going on a trip; then I’ll change it just before and just after (the trip). My trucks have lasted 10 years doing it that way. And even then they’re still working great when I trade them off.

quityerbitchenOnStar wants me back. Sirius(?) Radio almost wants to pay me to get me back. At least someone outside the house wants me without me having to have a Wanted poster posted in the Post Office.

Cloudy wet (without raining) day so me and the Dog burned trash. That’s about it for our outside stuff except for our walks. Which we’ve done.

Got X-Plane 10 installed on the ACEPC (mini-Windows 10 computer). The graphics look great. The Sim itself runs SSSLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWW! Unless I set graphics to the bare minimum; then it runs sorta okay. Wouldn’t trade my X-Plane 11 PC (Linux) for it but it does work. Sorta.

So, when is Hunter Biden going to have his fatal accident? I figure it’s in the Democrat Works cause it would solve two problems; 1) Hunter Biden, and 2) might BchGrl02get some sympathy votes for Daddy. Has no one called Hillary to set it up yet?

SWMBO bought me some compression socks. They’re tight. Duh! I don’t like tight clothing. Joined the Navy cause their dress uniform had that big loose tie. (And then they changed it on me for a few years. Bastards!) But I guess I’ll get used to these socks. Maybe.

A new study suggests it could be another 100,000 years before Betelgeuse goes Nova. Damn! There goes next Saturday night.

Pretty Windy Out These Past Few Days

Power has “glitched” a few times well enough for my desktop to reboot. Hate that. Power outages all around us from tree’s taking out the power lines. Joy. After this crappy wx summer and how “fall” is starting out I’m not looking forward to this Winter! Not a bit!

Running MSFSX on that ACEPC.

Otherwise, SSDD. Chores. Got down in my shop and started sanding that board my neighbor gave me. (Lookin‘ good!) Scanning my Aunt’s pictures. Moving things around. Playing on my computers. Keeping SWMBO happy. (Or, not murderously unhappy. She does know where I sleep.)

Oh, saw that Cardiologist again. He said everything is working like it’s supposed to. Told me I have a good heart (for an OLD guy that smoked for 40 years!). So I asked him “Why can I be laying in bed and feel my left leg/foot swell up?” He seemed surprised and immediately blamed in on “vein problems.” Wants to send me to a “vein” Doctor. (I did that last year. No “vein” problems found.) So he disappeared to get me a consult for a “second opinion” and I came on home.

2014-10-23-04

Two things. 1) He could have told me over the phone and saved me the almost hour drive there and the almost hour drive back. 2) I’m ultimately disappointed in this Doctor, his “bedside” manner, and his “off the cuff pretty much instantaneous diagnosis” of “vein” problems without first examining me. Honestly, each time we “talked” he just seemed to want to be somewhere else. I never did get to tell him what was really bothering me and I’m pretty sure he didn’t actually read the forms his office had me fill out.

So, I have a healthy heart that skips beats and I take medication to slow it down so it doesn’t forget to beat. I get minor chest pains and short of breath upon exertion. And, every so often, I’ll be laying in bed and my heart will feel like it’s “fluttering.” But everything’s okay.

Funeral is next week.

Date Day and SWMBO is taking me to the All-You-Can-Eat Chinese food place in Port Orchard.
