Really Nice Outside! Really Nice.

Nicole in "Invasion"

Yep, this morning started rather early today. 0515 as usual, but it just felt earlier. I sure wouldn’t mind one night of uninterrupted sleep! Just 7 hours.

Been “playing” with a program, gif2apng, that turns .gif files into animated .png files. Then I got to “playing” with my WordPress trying to increase the upload limit cause making .gif’s under 2 mb is a real pain sometimes. I just want 5 mb is all!

I was able to include this 3.7 mb file by manually uploading it then linking to it, but, I want to be able to just include it here and have it upload.

Found 7 copies of this picture from where I tried uploading by just making a regular post and it kept erroring out. I just don’t know.Forbidden00b_thumb.gif

Anywho, I’ve probably bored you to tears with all this technical stuff. On to my usual Friday! (Well, mostly usual.)

bi03ssSo I went to my friend’s and picked up my new rider-mower. Bad solenoid. Cost me $100 to get it all fixed; more than worth it since the rider-mower was given to me in the first place. Injured myself taking it off the truck at home. Damned Klutzy POS! Works great though. Already mowed the back yard. Works just fine.

So I mowed the front-lower yard too. Then moved the Caravan to a different place in the yard getting ready for when I rent a digger for a day. Nice out there!

I’m done for the day. It’s 1600 and I should start to figure out what I’m going to fix myself for dinner. Or I may just go get taco’s while picking SWMBO up at the QFC @ 1915 this evening. Kind of late for me to be eating but I can handle it. I think.

I gotta reboot my computer into Windows and get the MCARC bank statements and get those printed out before bedtime. Might as well get that done! (Posting WAY early.)

What A Nice Wx Day!

I’d be willing to bet it got to 85 degrees here at the house. Sunny! Hot! My kind of day! Spent as much time outside as I could, went for several walks around the property, ate a butt-ton of blackberries, and just enjoyed this day as much as possible.

We Do Not Need Any Lightning Right Now. Nomatter How Cool It Would Be.

All the while loading the Caravan for our trip. Had to make a run to WinCo and figured, as long as I was in town, also stopped by the Vape Shop and got another battery for my vaper-thingie. Mostly got sandwich stuff at WinCo so we could eat while driving if we wanted to. Or we could stop by the road somewhere if we wanted to. Or we could go hungry if we wanted to. (Did I cover all the bases?)

Listened to the Noon-time Net (7268.5) while laying out. Heard a lot of folks. The Sheriff’s bands have been busy with a truck turned on it’s side up near the Naval Hospital. Heard a report of another vehicle turned over later this afternoon but don’t remember where. All the usual ambulance runs and rescue stuff going on too. It’s fun to listen in and not have to respond.

Wx Here While We'll Be In Utah

This is one of the rare occasions that I’m glad SWMBO’s Son lives in our basement. He can keep an eye on the house and feed the animals while we travel for the weekend. Other than that …

SWMBO is home and made herself dinner and put some of the stuff she wants to take into the Caravan. She wants to take her sewing machine? She’ll be doing genealogy the first 3 days and trekking around canyons the 2nd 3 days. When’s she going to get time to sew? (She’ll manage though.)

Anywho, supposed to start raining tonight so I’ve buttoned up the Caravan and brought in everything I don’t want to get wet. Think I’ll go lay down and read.

It Really Is Just SSDD Here Today.

Started the day early, as usual; but this time I got to take SWMBO to the Ferry Landing. Nice spending some extra time with her. Coming back the sun, viewed in the rear view mirror, was just coming up and was bright red. It was cool looking! Wish I had had my camera, or even my phone (I forgot it), along.

Nice day that I spent outside as much as possible. Even though that meant digging a hole to mount a new 10 foot pipe to mount my 2-meter antenna to. Man, I hadn’t sweated that much in ages! (But it felt good to be doing something physical.) Going to put my antenna up another 10 feet if I can. Then the base will be at about 30 feet and that should help some. Maybe. I hope.

MCARC 2-meter Wednesday evening chat net went well. Not as many of the new guys joined us tonight though. Bummer.

Kiss Her Like You Mean It!

The other night I walked into SWMBO’s room, put my arms around her, and kissed her like the first time we, well, that was 33 years ago. The look on her face, and her inability to immediately get back to what she was doing, was nice.

17-USMCRC Cleveland16“What was that for?” She asked.

“Cause I could. Cause I wanted to.” Says I.

We all get busy. We all inevitably fall into routine. We all take relationships for granted. It does not hurt to occasionally stop and remind her that she is that Special Person in your life for the past ?? years. (Coming up on 30+ for us.)

It’s early Tuesday and I’m making plans for what I want to accomplish today. Supposed to be a nicer day out so, like most home owners in the North, I’m probably going to be doing outside projects while I can. Inside projects are for Winter when you really don’t want to be (or can’t be) outside.

Which means I’ll probably do some weeding in the garden, move things around getting ready for when I rent the digger for a day, and me and the Dog will probably take all our clothes off and go for walks around the back of the property while stopping to eat any Black Berries we come across.

Why I Don't Mount My Antenna On The Roof Peak!If it weren’t for the Wasps I’d mount my 2-meter antenna at the peak of the house. I’m just not young, nor agile, enough to dodge wasps and put up an antenna at the same time anymore. Damn getting old anyway!

I did get out and solder the new 2-meter antenna. If you can call what I do soldering. And, yep, managed to burn my finger and thumb while doing it. At least I’m consistent. But it appears that it’ll hold. I’ll test it tonight. Also took down the 6BTV antenna since I have that new Alpha coming.

Went out and took a bunch of pictures trying to show how dry it is around here. The Black Berries are drying up. Even my peas are looking poorly and I water them at least every other day. Cherry Tomato and Bell Pepper plants are the only things looking like they’re prospering this summer. But I did get several meals worth of peas again this year. Watered the garden while I was out there.

Dug up/gathered some more pebbles/small rocks for my “rock garden.” Gonna have to gather enough to fill the Mason Stones I put around a couple of trees. Or go with that bark stuff. I’d better ask SWMBO before I get too far into it.

Took the easy way out for dinner tonight. Salisbury Steak TV Dinner while “Galaxy Quest” plays in the background. Also went out and started the sprinkler to water the fruit trees a bit. We got 4 apples on our apple tree (of course) and I want to encourage that sort of behavior.

MCARC 10-meter Tuesday Evening Chat Net went well; even though I can’t hear anyone worth shit. They can really hear me; I just can’t hear them very well. Couple of the guys helped me out with the new 2-meter antenna after the Net. If I point it where I think Shelton is, they can’t really hear me and I can’t hear them much at all. But, if I point the thing to what I think of as West, everything’s good. Only thing we can figure is I’m bouncing my signal off the mountains in that direction. We’ll get it worked out tomorrow.

And that’s pretty much it. Another boring day in the life of Old Doc King shared with the world.
